I carved forms and symbols into small wood blocks, and a few larger ones. The forms are of course hardened and can become redundant. I prefer to melt, break, or meld them into other things. By using a delicate mulberry paper to make rubbings from portions or repetitions of the woodcuts with graphite sticks, I constantly remake them into something else. Sometimes a symbol becomes a space, a wing is water, forms gather like birds or maybe like grieving or protest.
